We talked to different people with different voices and backgrounds, to give an insight of what is going on in the city. We call it Voices of NOÉ.
Isadee Jansen, is a 21 year young model that became famous winning Curvy Supermodel 2018. Isadee takes a huge part in striving for equality and representation in the fashion industry for plus size models, however to Isadee the term “Body Positivity” isn’t something that she is necessarily a part of. She finds that things like stretch marks and cellulites should be something that are expected to be normal, rather than something people have to convince others to see as normal.
Isadee strives to be as honest as she can through her social media channels, she makes sure that people understand that she also at times has bad days. Nevertheless she isn’t the type to showcase her bad days by posting a picture about it, she perceives herself as someone that is down-to-earth and doesn’t feel the need to dwell on the negative parts of her life.
Something that still gets to Isadee is the fact that even though everyone talks about how accepting they are towards different body types, they still see the “skinny tall girl” as the prettiest out of them all. Nobody knows the other persons way of living, therefor nobody can judge whether the other is healthy or not.
“Everyone has their own kind of way of living, we just need to compare it and give each other positive vibes.”
In the beginning Isadee didn’t want to take part in Curvy Supermodel since she didn’t want to showcase her body, however her mom convinced her otherwise. In the end she is very happy that she did go through with it since it changed her perception towards other people.
Isadee tries to be as open and honest to her followers as possible, however she isn’t as upfront about personal stuff. She finds it hard at times to be open towards the world since she herself is also at times dealing with her own insecurities. Her tip for other people to gain more confidence in themselves is to do what they love and enjoy the process of it all.
In 5 years from now Isadee would see herself abroad, perhaps in New York, growing in every aspect of her life. She would love to start her own clothing brand with every size there is and grow in her modeling career so that she can aim towards a bigger audience.
